FleetHQ, Dealer to Compete for NASCAR’s Checkered Flag

Goodyear Tire & Rubber’s truck servicing program, FleetHQ is the sponsor of NASCAR driver Dennis Setzer’s Camping World Truck Series No. 92 FleetHQ/BTS Tire & Wheel Distributors Chevrolet Silverado racing truck. “We’re excited and proud to debut our FleetHQ truck with a veteran NASCAR driver with 18 wins under his belt,” said Ricky Benton Sr., owner of Black’s Tire Service, RBR Motorsports and BTS Racing. Black’s Tire Service is campaigning the truck in the 2010 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, and has 18 commercial tire locations and a retreading plant in North and South Carolina. Benton also owns BTS Tire & Wheel Distributors, a local wholesale distributor of commercial and passenger tires, and have offered motorsports services such as maintenance, tire installation and sorting and stocking of parts and tires for race teams. Benton’s RBR Motorsports has teamed up with several veteran and rookie NASCAR drivers in various racing series, including the United Speed Alliance Racing Pro Cup Series. “In the past, we have supported drivers before they’ve gone on to compete in the major series,” Benton said. “(We’ve supported) drivers such as Matt Carter, son of NASCAR veteran Travis Carter and the 2004 USARacing Pro Cup Series rookie of the year and the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series rookie of the year, (who) went on to compete in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.” “Racing has become more than a hobby or a past-time for our family and our employees, it’s also become a way for us to connect with each other, our customers and our community,” said Rick Benton Jr., who also serves as vice president of sales and marketing for Black’s Tire. “Racing’s become an integral part of our company’s marketing strategy.”

RBR Motorsports Trucking In Charlotte This Weekend

Cerro Gordo, NC – RBR Motorsports announced today they will be competing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) event in Charlotte, NC with veteran driver, Dennis Setzer, behind the wheel. Setzer will pilot the #92 fleetHQ/BTS Tire & Wheel Distributors Chevrolet Silverado this Friday night at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Setzer made his NASCAR debut in the Busch Series in 1991. Since then, he has competed in both the NASCAR Nationwide Series and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Setzer has 18 wins in the NCWTS.

Great Loss “In Memory of Pat Kimmel”

We lost a member of our BTS Family on 3/29/10. Pat Kimmel from our Bragg Blvd location lost his courageous battle with Cancer. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him and he impacted those who did not. Pat was as good as you will ever find. His dedication, devotion and knowledge of this business was more than anyone could ever know…..

This is a great loss to us all…… Pat leaves us at a very young 48 years old…

Pat spent over 25 years of his life dedicated to the tire industry working in the same building there on Bragg Blvd. On April 10th, we will be hosting a fundraiser on site there selling Bar-B-Q plates with proceeds and donations going to help his family with medical expenses incurred. At the time of the benefit, we will name the building at 3226 Bragg Blvd. in his honor.

RAIN SPOILS THE RBR TEAM’S TRUCK SERIES DEBUT

Martinsville, VA – The #92 RBR team was forced to load up Friday and come back home after the rain forced NASCAR to cancel qualifying. The skies were overcast throughout the day as testing went well for the #92 fleetHQ / BTS Tire & Wheel Distributors team. Driver, Dennis Setzer was very comfortable in the truck and was sitting 15th fastest on the practice charts. As qualifying time approached so did the rain. After waiting out the weather for a couple hours, NASCAR had no choice but to cancel the qualifying and start the race by owner points. This was not good for the RBR Team as they are new to the circuit and had no owner points to fall back on.

“We really wish the weather had cooperated with us”, said team owner Ricky Benton. “The team worked well together all day and Dennis was very good in practice. We all felt we would be able to qualify in the top ten pretty easily but the weather was out of our control.” Kevin Harvick, after being fastest in practice, went on to win the Kroger 250 at the Martinsville Speedway.

RBR Motorsports to Team with Setzer in Truck Series Debut

Cerro Gordo, NC – RBR Motorsports announced today that the racing team will make its NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) debut at Martinsville, VA, with veteran driver, Dennis Setzer, behind the wheel. Setzer will pilot the #92 fleetHQ/BTS Tire & Wheel Distributors Chevrolet Silverado at the Martinsville Speedway on Saturday, March 27 in the third race of the season.

Setzer made his NASCAR debut in the Busch Series in 1991. Since then, he has competed in both the NASCAR Nationwide Series and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Setzer has 18 wins in the NCWTS, with his last win taking place at the Martinsville Speedway in 2008.

Black’s Tire opens new retread plant in Clarkton, N.C.

Black’s Tire Commercial Division recently opened a new 50,000-square-foot retread plant and commercial distribution center in Clarkton, N.C. The new facility replaces another smaller plant in Clinton, N.C., and can produce up to 225 different truck tire retreads from 16-inch to 24.5-inch wheel diameters. Black’s Tire also has 18 commercial tire and service locations in North Carolina and South Carolina, where it offers a variety of new commercial tires under several brands, including Goodyear, Kelly and Dunlop. The retreading plant currently retreads about 100 truck tires per day, but plans to expand that number through customer growth.

“New retreading equipment, state-of-the-art tire management technology and more storage capability at our new retread plant and distribution center will allow us to offer a new level of cradle-to-grave tire service,” says Ricky Benton Sr., owner of the Whiteville, N.C.-based business. “With this new facility, we can help truck operators reduce their costs.” Black’s Tire serves a variety of fleets and truck operators involved in long-haul and regional-haul applications.

Pat Demianenko, national sales manager for Goodyear Retread Systems, says Goodyear is pleased to see the new Black’s Tire facility go into service. “Black’s Tire has more than 80 years of experience in the tire business,” Demianenko says. “This new plant represents a substantial investment by the company in producing quality retreads and providing customers great service well into the 21st century. And by utilizing a lean manufacturing concept in its design and layout, Black’s Tire will be able to consistently produce high-quality retreads.”
